Eve is a Blog Columnist for Spirituality and Health Magazine.

Combining her expertise and passion for sharing relationship skills, and tools for personal and spiritual growth, Eve offers a unique perspective on the many uses of the labyrinth.

In a personalized Labyrinth intensive, Eve will share with you a deep look at the labyrinth and the rich field of metaphor it offers on the journey of life. Whether your primary purpose is to deepen your skill as a facilitator or to enrich your own spiritual journey, this retreat will be powerful and rewarding.

This retreat can be custom designed to meet your timeline and budget, including a one-day labyrinth retreat, however a three to five day opportunity is preferable. If you are a facilitator, each session will both serve you as an individual and as a teacher. Exercises will be offered for between session. In addition to the many labyrinths on Maui, Eve also has a portable canvas labyrinth and can share with you the challenges and joys of using them. She can also bring this retreat to you!

Day 1

9-noon • Orientationand Six Essential Life Skills
In this session you will be introduced to the retreat experience, explained the process of personal growth and change, guided to set your intentions and to begin the process of letting go of that which is no longer serving you.

While many understand the labyrinth as a walking mediation, the labyrinth is actually a rich field of metaphor for deeply understanding ourselves. It offers a mirror into which we can see ourselves and a blue-print for understanding the human spirit. Through a mix of information, a deepening perspective, the labyrinth walk and journaling processes, this promises to be a powerful experience.

Powerful skills that should be a part of everyone’s personal practice for accessing wisdom, making decisions and aligning our behavior with our goals. Whether applied to relationships, work or simply one’s personal well-being, mastering these six skills allows you to master yourself. The labyrinth is the perfect place to practice and master these skills.

2:00-4:00 • Insight to Self
During this session we explore a deep understanding of the human spirit and the ego mind, and tools for accessing our authentic essence, inner wisdom and sense of self-esteem. It seems that sense self-esteem  diminishes over time such that by the time we are young adults many of us are essentially crippled by our negative self-talk, lack of confidence and the unconscious manipulative behaviors that ensue. This session will deepen your understanding and compassion for the human experience, provide a clear understanding of the ego’s misguided attempts to protect us and teach you how to turn your self-esteem around. This session will both deepen your understanding of yourself, and anyone else you are in relationship with. This will begin-or strengthen- the journey of self-love and authenticity, which is the first ingredient to a harmonious, sustainable relationship.

4:00 Walk the labyrinth at the Sacred Garden

Day 2

9:00-1:00 Labyrinth Walk on 11-Circuit Labyrinth in Kapalua

The labyrinth at The Sacred Garden sits beside a stream, is cocooned beneath a grove of Kukui trees and sheltered by a 200 foot wall of solid rock. By contrast the labyrinth in Kapalua is exposed to the sun, wind and water and offers an entirely different experience. In this session we will explore the effects of different environments on the “energy” of the experience.

2-4 Labyrinth Walk on 7-circuit Labyrinth in Kapalua

Not only is this in a different environment, and made of different materials, but the 7-circuit labyrinth offers an entirely different history and set of experiences to explore.

4-5:30 Labyrinth Walk in Lahaina

We will stop on the way home at Sacred Heart Church to walk—and “feel”  the labyrinth there as well and explore the subtle and not-so-subtle differences.

Day 3

9-11:00 The EROS Equation

In this session you will learn the powerful secrets of the Eros Equation and discover your power for creating healthy relationships with yourself and others. The labyrinth is an excellent place to practice this critical relationship skill and is an immensely helpful to deeply understand as a teacher.

11:30-1:00 Using the Labyrinth to Make Peace with the Past
In this session you will learn the EROS Equation, how to dis-empower events and empower your ability to respond to events. Once you have a complete understanding of how to do this, we will have you walk through a timeline of your life discovering the blessings, lessons, gifts and value of the events of your life. You will also be empowered to boldly step into your future fully equipped to respond, rather than react, to the events of your life. While anger and fear plague us all, can destroy relationships or stop them from happening, You will learn how to reframe anger and fear, embrace them and learn to see them as the guideposts to what you treasure.

2:00-4:00 Journal work and the Labyrinth…another means to access the depths of your soul

7-9:00 Labyrinth walk by moon and torch light…

A labyrinth walk in the “dark” holds multiple metaphors and a totally different experience. We will deepen our awareness of the present moment and practice mindfulness.

 Day 4

9- 1:00 Pele Ceremony on Haleakala

Haleakala National Park is the “heart” of the island—in essence the “sacred center” and offers some excellent metaphors for deeper exploration of the labyrinth. Depending on your fitness and desire, we will venture into the crater to experience the peace there…

Get out on the land into what many consider to be the Heart Chakra of the World. Haleakala stands 10,000 feet high in the midst of the Pacific Ocean offering unbeatable vistas and a haunting silence that stirs your soul. Pele, Hawaii’s Fire Goddess and the one responsible for the creation of the islands through her volcanic activity, is honored atop Haleakala, the house of the sun and a dormant volcano. Whether you opt to hike or simply meditate at the summit, you will leave with a deeper sense of connection to all that is. Opportunities range from beginner to advanced fitness.

2-3:30 Labyrinth Walk at St. John’s Church followed by an exploration of the importance of “processing” after a walk.

2:00-4:00 Integration

In the integration session Eve will assist you in connecting the dots between all of your sessions to ensure you have a deep understanding of your experience, a practice, skills and tools for taking powerful and positive next steps on your journey through life—and are completely comfortable and confident as a labyrinth facilitator. The process of change will be explained so that you deeply understand how to step back onto your chosen path when you have seemingly fallen (or been pushed) off. You will depart fully empowered to implement the experiences, insights and lessons from your retreat into your everyday life. The integration session is designed to assist you in pulling all the pieces of your retreat together and ensuring that you have a clear practice for maintaining your strength and balance when you get home.
